1 or 2 week tours around HOTEL NATURA BAFA details TREKKING The LATMOS MOUNTAINS and lake BAFA with its islands, shores and the MENDERES river delta are at walking distance. In the DAVUTLAR National Park an enormous variety of wild plants and animals can be seen. Old trails in the LATMOS mountains can be followed, an extinct volcano rises in the back, hiding the ruines of a dozen mediaeval monasteries. Along steep paths a difficult climb leads to the 1360m summit of the Besparmak Mountains. On an island a Byzantine monastery can be visited; here Selene, the moon goddess, fell in love with the shepherd Endymion as he lay asleep at the shore and she asked Zeus to grant him perpetual sleep and bore 50 children from their nightly encounters... BOULDERING The boulderlands of Besparmak Mountains are the perfect spot for this new type of sports : bouldering. BOTANICAL Botanical and Orchid excursions start in February; over 30 orchid varieties can be seen in Spring and at the end of September some start to flower again. ORNITHOLOGICAL All around the year several domestic but also migrating birds can be seen and a lot of beautiful butterflies too. In the Big Meander delta area, with several lagoons, are many birds; among the 256 species living here, 70 of them breed there also and in Avsar village a hugues storck population is present. CULTURAL Historical sites and Oriental culture can be explored individually by public transport, taxi or hired car or with one of our organised tours (details). Lake BAFA lies in the middle of the ancient Carien landscape between Ionia in the north and Lykia in the South; archeology lovers but also biblical history lovers will find interesting sites nearby. Some historical sites at close distance of are: HERAKLEIA, DIDYMA, MILET, PRIENE, LABRANDA, EUROMOS, IASSOS, MILASSA, BEÇIN; a little bit further are EPHESUS, STRATONIKEIA, ALINDA, ALABANDA, KNIDOS, BODRUM, BARGILYA, THEANGELA, LAGINA, SANDIMA and many others. Some places with typically turkish attractions are : IKIZDERE, KETENDERE, MILAS and SÖKE market and the train museum in ÇAMLIK; further you can go to a hamam/turkish sauna in f.i. Didyma. Marble groves, olive groves and olive oil factories, carpet weaveries : many small local industries can be visited. YOGA/REIKI/THERAPY Several times per year YOGA/REIKI/MEDITATION or other THERAPY groups and coaches stay at our hotel. STUDENT GROUPS Student groups from Turkey and abroad come and stay for a holiday at our resort. CREATIVE courses are given by known painters and others. LANGUAGE, COOKING and DANS COURSES are given; frequented by Turkish and international guests.
